Khatm planner
How many pages a day it takes to read the whole mushaf by a date you choose, split into as many sittings as your day has room for.
How the plan is worked out
The planner counts in pages of the Madani mushaf, which has 604 of them across 30 juz. That is the printing most people read from and the one whose page numbers most apps follow. If your copy is a different printing, the page numbers will not match, but the share of the whole will: a plan of 20 pages a day is a thirtieth of the mushaf a day in any printing.
Day by day, the pages are spread as evenly as whole pages allow. Thirty days is 604 ÷ 30 = 20.13 pages a day, so twenty-six days get 20 pages and four days get 21, and the heavier days are spaced through the month rather than piled up at the end. The juz shown beside each day is the juz that day's first page falls in, because a few juz begin part-way down a page.
Sittings divide the heaviest day. If you read in five short sittings, a 21-page day is five sittings of up to five pages; the planner rounds up so the last page is never left over. For the reasoning behind keeping each sitting small, see how to read a little every day.
The Ramadan preset
The Ramadan button reads the dates of the coming Ramadan from the Umm al-Qura calendar that your browser already carries, and fills in its length — 29 or 30 days. Where the month begins with a local moon sighting, the first or last day can fall a day either side, so check the date your community follows; the hijri date converter shows the calendar the preset uses.
Questions
How many pages a day does it take to finish the Quran in 30 days?
About 20. The Madani mushaf has 604 pages, and 604 ÷ 30 is 20.13, so a 30-day plan is 20 pages on most days and 21 on four of them — roughly one juz a day.
How many pages is one juz?
Most juz take about 20 pages of the 604-page Madani mushaf. The first runs to 21 pages and the last to 23, and a few begin part-way down a page, which is why the planner counts pages rather than juz.
What if I miss a day of the plan?
Enter the days you have left and the planner spreads the remaining pages again. A plan that is recalculated is still a plan; nothing in the arithmetic needs the missed day back on its own.
Does the planner work for a printing with a different number of pages?
The page numbers are the Madani mushaf's, so they will not match another printing. The share of the whole will: 20 pages of 604 is a thirtieth of the mushaf, whatever the page count of your copy.
